Yes, that’s a long way. Today was my estuary hopping day. After walking to Arnside in pouring rain first up, I train hopped over the Kent to Grange (over mud) and then the Leven to Ulverston.
By the time I reached Barrow, I’d had enough of the vaguaries of public transport. And I’m not sure I want to be trapped in Barrow. So it’s another short trip to Askam to camp.
I feel a bit low today, rather purposeless and weary. Maybe, hopefully, it’s just down to a night and morning of heavy rain and the effort of staying dry.
One more river to cross, the Duddon, to Millom tomorrow and this convoluted Cumbrian coast straightens out a bit. Maybe I just need to feel northerly progress once more.
