Images from Coast17 Stage 9 – Berwick upon Tweed to Humberside

After transferring from Solway across to Berwick upon Tweed, I was at last heading south, every step one nearer home.

Scenically this was perhaps the most varied coastal walking in England, from the miles of expansive, golden sand of Northumberland, through the industrial and sometimes depressed Tyne & Wear, County Durham and Teesside, to the high cliffs and eroding coastines of Yorkshire.

I made more images on this stage than any other, yet it doesn’t copy well into a talk because this walk was largely smooth and uneventful, with few traveller stories to tell.
